FireHawk® Bioherbicide is designed for people who want effective weed control with a more deliberate approach — whether they’re caring for a backyard garden or managing acres of productive land. Powered by nonanoic acid, a fatty acid, it works on contact to break down actively growing weeds, including annuals, perennials, grasses, broadleaf species, and most mosses and other cryptogams. You’ll see visible change on most weeds within hours. Because FireHawk works only where it’s applied, it affects just the plant tissue coated with the spray and leaves no residual control in the soil — so growers and homeowners get effective weed control without lingering presence.

FireHawk Bioherbicide is shaped by an advisory board of regenerative farmers whose real-world experience helps guide how we develop practical, effective weed control for today’s landscapes and farms.

FireHawk Bioherbicide is a product of Contact BioSolutions and is part of our commitment to harness technology to meet the growing global demand for regenerative agriculture and sustainable landscapes. At Contact BioSolutions, we seek to empower farmers, families and communities with effective alternatives to conventional herbicides.

Why FireHawk Bioherbicide?
FAQs

About FireHawk

A bioherbicide is a weed control product derived from naturally occurring compounds. FireHawk Bioherbicide is powered by nonanoic acid, a fatty acid that we optimize for efficacy. When sprayed on the green parts of the plant it breaks down the outer cell membranes, causing the plant cells to collapse and dry out quickly. The result is a fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide that only affects the green parts of the plant.

FireHawk works on contact to rapidly desiccate weeds, with visible effects often appearing within hours. Unlike systemic herbicides, it does not move within the plant and does not provide residual soil activity. FireHawk affects only the vegetation it directly contacts when used as directed.

The active ingredient in FireHawk Bioherbicide is nonanoic acid, a fatty acid that we optimize for efficacy. The remaining ingredients help the spray spread and adhere to plant surfaces for effective contact activity.

Weed Control & Results

FireHawk controls a wide range of broadleaf, grassy weeds, mosses and cryptograms. Because it is non-selective, it will affect any green vegetation it contacts.

See the Ready to Use weed list → Weed Guide

FireHawk is fast-acting. Many weeds begin to show visible wilting within hours of application, with full desiccation typically occurring within 24 hours. It works faster on warm, sunny days. Larger or well-established weeds may require follow-up applications.

Learn what to expect → How It Works

No. FireHawk works on contact by dehydrating leaves and stems. It does not move into the root system, so weeds with extensive underground structures may regrow and require sequential applications. FireHawk does not provide residual activity in the soil.

Learn how to manage regrowth → Weed Guide | Agriculture

No. FireHawk does not provide residual weed control in the soil. It controls only the weeds it contacts at the time of application. Only the green parts of the plant are affected.

Use & Safety

FireHawk is non-selective, meaning it will affect any green plant tissue it touches. Spot treatment and shielding are recommended where precision is needed.
