For orchards, vineyards and high-value crops

FireHawk® Bioherbicide Super Concentrate is a patented, non-selective contact bioherbicide for fast burndown of annual and perennial, broadleaf weeds and grasses across agricultural, horticultural, amenity, and non-crop situations - with no withholding period.

Active Ingredient: Powered by nonanoic acid, a fatty acid that we optimize for efficacy.

Key Benefits

Fast Visible Burndown

Results seen as browning and wilting within hours of application. Nonanoic acid contact action destroys plant cell membranes, causing rapid tissue dehydration.

No Withholding Period

No withholding period when used as directed. No downtime between treatment and getting on with the job.

Patented Technology

EPA-registered patented bio technology enables the herbicide to penetrate the plant with increased efficacy - every droplet works harder.

Not Translocated

A non-selective contact herbicide for broad spectrum control. Ideal for rotation with other weed control approaches.

The Contact BioSolutions Mission

To deliver nature-inspired, market-leading bioherbicide solutions harnessing technology tomeet the growing global demand for regenerative agriculture and sustainable landscapes. We empower farmers, families and communities to reduce their reliance on conventional herbicides and restore the health of ecosystems for future generations.

Where to Use in Orchards & Vineyards
  • In-row and between-row weed control
  • Under-tree applications
  • Dormant season weed control
  • Sucker control

Applications must be directed to avoid contact with desirable plants. FireHawk Bioherbicide is a contact, non-selective herbicide that affects only green plant tissue coated by the spray solution.

Why Growers Choose FireHawk Super Concentrate

FireHawk Bioherbicide Super Concentrate is weed control that fits your whole system, not just the season. It supports long-term rotation planning, flexible resistance strategies, and precise weed knock-down.

Grower Realities

  • Perennial crops demand long-term thinking, not one-season fixes
  • Weed pressure must be managed without compromising future planting or soil plans
  • Herbicide-resistant weed management requires diversified approaches
  • Clean rows matter for airflow, harvest efficiency, and vine or tree health
  • Operational windows are tight—and timing matters

How FireHawk Bioherbicide Super Concentrate Supports these Systems

  • Contact-only activity supports precise placement
  • No soil residual allows flexibility in crop and cover-crop planning
  • Fast visual response supports timely operational decisions
  • Fits easily into Integrated Weed Management (IWM) and herbicide-resistance programs.

How FireHawk Bioherbicide Super Concentrate Works

FireHawk Bioherbicide Super Concentrate uses nonanoic acid as its active ingredient. When applied to actively growing weeds, it disrupts plant cell membranes on contact, resulting in rapid desiccation of green plant tissue.

Because FireHawk is not translocated, it affects only the plant parts coated with the spray solution. Because it’s contact-based, non-systemic action is limited to treated plant tissue. In some cases, follow up applications may be required to address regrowth or newly emerged weeds.

Spray Coverage Matters

Use a full cone nozzle to achieve even spray distribution. Apply FireHawk Bioherbicide so the entire plant is thoroughly wet, covering all green leaf surfaces uniformly. Because FireHawk works on contact, only the plant tissue coated with the spray will be affected—complete coverage is key for consistent results.

Keep it Mixed

FireHawk Bioherbicide is an emulsifiable concentrate. Shake well before use, and maintain agitation during application to keep the solution properly mixed. For sprayers without continuous agitation, stop periodically to re-mix—without agitation, the product can separate quickly.

How to Use

Managing weeds as part of a living system. At Contact BioSolutions, we believe effective weed control should support—not constrain—the way growers manage their land over time. In regenerative and stewardship-focused systems, flexibility matters: the ability to adapt planting plans, integrate cover crops, and respond to seasonal variability without unintended carryover.

FireHawk Bioherbicide is designed to give growers precise control of emerged weeds while preserving future options. Used as directed, it fits into integrated weed management approaches that emphasize timing, placement, equipment selection, and respect for the complexity of agricultural ecosystems.

FAQs

FireHawk is a contact, nonselective, broadspectrum, foliarapplied herbicide. It only affects plant tissue that is directly coated with spray solution and is not translocated.

  • Apply to actively growing, young, succulent weeds
  • Avoid applications when weeds are wet
  • Avoid applications if rainfall or irrigation is expected within 2 hours
  • Cool weather slows activity
  • Boom equipment: 75–100 GPA
  • Spot/handheld: ~100 GPA equivalent
  • Minimum: 20 GPA for foliar applications
  • 1.5–3.2%: annual weeds, mosses
  • 1.5–4.8%: perennial weeds, sucker growth
  • 3.2–4.8%: maximum burndown, edging, woody vegetation

Diluted product:

  • Long‑sleeved shirt, long pants
  • Shoes + socks

Concentrated product:

  • Coveralls
  • Chemical‑resistant gloves (barrier laminate, nitrile, rubber, neoprene)
  • Chemical‑resistant footwear
  • Protective eyewear

Closed systems, enclosed cabs, or aircraft meeting WPS requirements may reduce PPE.

  • FireHawk is subject to WPS when used on agricultural plants
  • Restricted Entry Interval (REI): 12 hours
  • Early entry requires coveralls, chemical‑resistant gloves, chemical‑resistant footwear, and protective eyewear

Yes, but only with compatible products and never with products that prohibit mixing.

Follow this sequence:

  1. Wettable powders
  2. Flowables
  3. Emulsifiable concentrates
  4. FireHawk
  5. Water‑soluble liquids
  6. Adjuvants

Compatibility must be tested before mixing. Read full label instructions.

No.

Use coarse droplets (solid cone or flat fan at low pressure) to minimize drift. Avoid fine droplets or mist.

  • Avoid drift to desirable vegetation
  • Do not apply when wind favors off‑target movement
  • Keep people, pets, and livestock off treated areas until dry
  • Fill tank ¾ with water
  • Add FireHawk
  • Add remaining water
  • Maintain agitation throughout
  • See label for more information

Clean tank, pump, and lines thoroughly with water after use.

  • Do not apply directly to water
  • Do not contaminate water during disposal
  • Do not apply to wet weeds
  • Do not apply if rain is expected within 2 hours

FireHawk containers are nonrefillable and must be triplerinsed or pressure‑rinsed before disposal or recycling.
